MY HOLIDAY FAVORITES

Happy Wednesday y'all and welcome to my FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR! The holiday season is truly a time for us to reflect and be thankful for our many blessings, family, health and peace of mind. It is also time for me to do theeeeee most, make my husband wear matching family pj's, watch Christmas Lifetime movies nonstop and get with my girls to celebrate another Hot Girl Holiday Season. Hopefully you enjoy the extra excuses of getting together as a family and giving back to those less fortunate. For me, this season is all about GIVING and creating memories. Having Kinlsey just makes it all the more special to create our own family traditions while passing on the ones from years before.

So here they are, my holiday Favorites for this Hot Girl Holiday Season...

Picking the Tree

1. Heading out with family to pick our Douglas Fur tree is probably my absolute favorite tradition and what I am most excited about sharing with our daughter. My dad has been taking me to pick out our tree since I was a little girl and those are truly fond memories. My sister and I live on opposite coasts, but we still make it a point to FaceTime each other from the lot to pick the best tree. I continued the tradition when my husband and I started dating, even in our little one bedroom apartment and plan to continue for many years to come.

Remember when selecting a tree it’s all about the 3 F's...

Freshness- check the needles- you don’t want a brittle tree

Fullness- we like our tree nice and FAT

Fit- make sure to measure your ceiling if you’re unsure what size to get

DECORATING THE HOUSE

2. Now the fun begins. I turn on my Christmas R&B jams, turn on the heater in the house, put on my Christmas long johns and get in full Christmas mode. My family will tell you I truly get in a zone - just call me Mrs. Christmas! The cozy feeling in the house, the smell of evergreen and being home with the ones I love, to me, is what it’s all about.

Christmas MOVIES

3. ELF, THE PREACHER’S WIFE, HOME ALONE, HOME ALONE 2, BEST MAN HOLIDAY… need I say more?! I love binging Christmas movies around this time. It gives me a great excuse to get a good cry in and enjoy all the sweet and sappy plots LIFETIME comes up with year after year.

VOLUNTEERING

4. My favorite give back during the holidays is the Dear Santa, the West Oakland post office does annually. Kids write letters to Santa and the post office collects them and posts them in the mail room. You can pick a child, their gifts, and bring them back to the post office for them to be delivered from “Santa”. It’s truly the sweetest thing.

WRAPPING GIFTS

5. This usually ensues the night before and I damn near have a wrapping station set up in Kinsley’s nursery. My family will bring in gifts they’d like me to wrap and it pretty much looks like Santa's workshop. I even had a friend offer to pay me to wrap her gifts lol. Call me crazy, but I truly enjoy doing all this.

GETTING OTHERS IN THE SPIRIT

6. My husband is a big gift giver, but doesn't like a lot of attention. He'll actually be annoyed by his feature in this post, but for the sake of the blog we will forgive me :). So yeah, he's a big spoiler when it comes to gifts and he truly enjoys giving to others. During this time it just gives me a seasonal reason to exploit the holiday cheer and have him wear matching pajamas and half way watch Christmas movies with me. It's not that hard since he already is a natural giver, but having him indulge in my Christmas crazy makes my year :)

And of course we frequent a holiday party or two or ten.
